Cyclone Remal: The body of 28 deer matches the Sundarbans
Twenty-two deer bodies were recovered in the Sundarbans after the cyclone Remal.
Twenty-two deer bodies were recovered from the Eastern Division of Bagerhat. Earlier on Monday, two dead deer were recovered.
The forest department has recovered eight more living deer that floated at the time.
Mihir Kumar Doy, a forest center in the Khulna area of the forest department, told reporters that on Tuesday morning, 20 dead deer were recovered from the Jamtala area of the Kotka Sanctuary in the Sharankhola Range of the Sundarbans Eastern Division.
I think the deer can be swept away by the high tidal water in the Sundarbans.
The forest conservationist said, "With the influence of cyclone Remal, the high tide of the Sundarbans flooded the vast area of the river. The height of the tide was above 5 feet. Seeing that water, I was afraid of the death of the wildlife in the Sundarbans. Twenty-two deer bodies were found in two days. The forest department is concerned."
The dead deer have been pressed to the ground. The forest department said the living deer was released in the forest.
Under the influence of cyclone Remal, high tidal water flooded the vast area of the Sundarbans on Sunday. At this time, the water from Bagerhat's main rivers flows over the danger line, the Water Development Board said.
